Lady Gaga Launches Fame Perfume Fragrance in Tokyo
Following the recent release of the advertisement for Lady Gaga’s new fragrance Fame with certain criticism from the fashion circle, it appears that Lady Gaga has proven her critics wrong with the successful exclusive launch of her Fame perfume fragrance at a pop-up store in Tokyo last week. It is currently the only place in the world selling the star’s perfume fragrance line, until it makes its debut in other markets come September.

The pop-up store, named Lady Gaga Haus Laboratories, is located on the second floor of the recently opened Tokyu Plaza retail complex in the Harajuku district. Customers are greeted by a red-carpeted display and testing area, before making their way through black fringe curtains to a room which has a bit of a science lab feel to it, and where the perfume fragrance products are available for purchase.
Line queues outside a shop in Asia are a popular test to prove the success of a brand launch and Lady Gaga’s perfume fragrance store opening proved no different. Before the pop-up store opened last Wednesday at 11am, more than 200 customers, many dressed in over-the-top, Gaga-inspired fashions, waited to be among the first to purchase the products. These lucky shoppers were given a given a sample of the perfume fragrance upon entry and once inside the store, sang and danced along to the Lady Gaga soundtrack while spritzing each other with the fragrance. To add flavor to the opening, oiled up and shirtless male models made the rounds with testers, often stopping to pose for photos with shoppers.
While Lady Gaga did not herself attend the opening, according to Fons Houtkamp, general manager of Asia export for Coty Inc., which produces the perfume fragrance line, the pop star herself had chosen the Japanese capital for the scent launch. ”She said, ‘If there is one store in the world, one door in the world, it should be in Tokyo’,” said Houtkamp.
Lady Gaga Fame perfume fragrance line is available in three sizes: 30ml for approximately USD60, 50ml at USD75, and the 100ml at $130. There is also a 200ml body lotion priced at USD40 and a soap for $35. All USD prices are approximate due to exchange rates.
If you can’t wait until September to purchase Fame,you’ll be happy to know that it’s already on eBay for sale. At the time we’re writing this, we found 13 listings on eBay.
